Are you victimized by credit cards? Find out how to get financial compensation from Credit card companies
Credit cards have now become the need for the hour. Credit card is a wonderful source of credit facility which serves the common man in times of necessity as well as emergency. However, customers are continually being victimized by credit card companies which impose huge amount of charges on them. Most of these include interest charges, default/penalty charges, legal charges like annual fees and other additional charges like insurance premiums. Apart from charges and fees, customers are also being victimized by marketing scams and reward offers. The most fundamental, but pathetic of all, is the inferior customer service provided by most credit card companies, especially that of major US and UK banks, which have outsourced their business to other countries, where customers are subjected to torture by foreign call center executives
The most well-known credit card monetary victimizations are imposition of interest charges, default charges, insurance premiums and annual fees. Default charges are applied if a customer misses his/her minimum payment in case of revolve cards. Interest charges are applied if customers do not pay off their balances in full. Annual fees are not applicable on all cards, but only for cards which offer some unique benefits. Most credit companies will charge annual fees mandatorily and will continue to do so on an annual basis, even if the customer doesn't use the card. PPI (payment protection insurance) mis-sales contibute a greal deal towards credit card scams. Companies are being forced to pay out million of dollars back to customers towards default charges and PPI premiums each year, by Law enforcing authorities such as FSA(financial services authority and FLA(Financial Leasing Authority). Due to negligence by banks, customers are often being subjected to bad credit ratings and even fraud ratings.
If you are victimized by credit card charges, first learn how you have incurred the charges and find out whether the company/bank has levied the charge in accordance with the credit terms and conditions. In 2006, an official press release issued by the OFT(Office of Fair Trading) ordered all credit card issuers to recalculate their default charges in line with the principles set out in the official guidelines and pay back customers. These principles also apply to default charges in other consumer contracts such as those for bank overdrafts, store cards and mortgages. The OFT also issued guideline letter template for customers to help submit their claims to the banks. Another ruling ordered all banks to repay insurance premiums to customers wherever they are mis-sold, as most banks had PPI(payment protection insurance) as a marketing sales activity and did lot of mis-sales to thousands of customers. As per banking regulations, card repayment insurance sales is limited only to customers who are within 65 years of age. Insurance sales to customers over 65 years of age would be considered a mis-sale, in which case the bank was supposed to repay all the premiums paid by the customers. The two legal notices proved to a boon to all customers who were subject to credit card scams
If you are victimized by a credit card company, go for a Compensation. You are entitled to it. NEVER HOLD BACK!!!
If you are ever victimized by a credit card company, in whatsoever form, matter or magnitude, you are always entitled to lodge a complaint and claim compensation. Victimization could occur in a variety of forms. As a customer, you may have been levied excessive default charges or interest charges, or you may have been sold a wrong insurance. Or, you could have been subjected to minor victimizations such as inferior service or rude behavior by a bank helpline staff. Nevertheless, always have the courage to raise your voice and instigate a complaint whenever you are subjected to these ordeals
A bank could apply a late fee, even if you have paid the minimum payment on time, caused due to the negligence of the payment being applied into the computer records on time. In these instances, the terms and conditions do not hold justice in favor of the bank. So, feel free to refute unfair charges whenever they are applied
Always go for monetary compensation. Don't just settle with an apology.
"When you become victim of a credit card, Always go for compensation. Dont just settle with an apology"- This statement is very much true as it sounds. If the credit card company has caused you monetary loss or caused you inconvenience, time or stress in any manner, go for a compensation. Many aggrieved customers raise complaints with credit card companies and request for "Apology" letters. The apology letter may be a useful proof for initiating further legal procedings, but if you are demanding an apology just for the same of your self-satisfaction, IT'S AN UTTER WASTE.
Most credit card companies have outsourced their work to foreign companies where work processing is designed through the computers. It will take just a matter of seconds for a call-center agent sitting in a foreign country to dispatch a pre-defined apology letter template to you. For you, it's a matter of winning the bank and acquiring a much-deserved piece of document. But for the bank, it's just a piece of paper generated with a click of the mouse, the contents of which are not even read by a human being. So, if you are victimized by the bank, demand for a compensation, Don't be apprehensive or shy, and Trust me.....Almost every bank will provide you a compensation, just to reduce costs of dragging the case further, if not for a genuine cause of resolving the customer's complaint
So, whether you are raising a huge default charges compensation claim for $2000, or just seeking a meagre amount of $5 for a series of unnecessary phone calls, always go for the compensation. A five-dollar is always a five-dollar of your hard-earned money and you deserve to churn it out of the punitive bank at given day.
